Visit Fagrabrekka

Come and see the trees

Fagrabrekka is a working farm right on Iceland's Ring Road, in north-west Iceland. In September 2026 we planted our first 120 young trees here, mostly native downy birch and rowan, on open heathland that was treeless to the horizon.

Anyone with trees here is welcome to come and see them, whether they planted one tree or a woodland, or were given them as a gift. So are company sponsors and guests at the farm's Airbnb. Every visit is arranged in advance.

Who can visit?

Guests at the farm's Airbnb

Staying at the farm? You can see the trees at any time of year during your stay. Agree a time with your host first.

Anyone with trees here

Whether you planted a single tree, a copse or a woodland, or were given trees as a gift, including a company’s “trees for all your clients” gift, you are welcome to visit them.

Company sponsors

Companies that sponsor planting with us are welcome to come and see the land they support.

Always by arrangement. Fagrabrekka is a working farm, and the farm manager needs to be at home to meet you, so please don't arrive unannounced.

When is the best time to come?

Staying at the Airbnb? Any time of year works. For other visits, we highly recommend one of the two planting seasons, when there is most to see:

  • Mid-May to the end of June
  • Late August to the end of September

Can I plant a tree myself?

Sometimes, yes. If you come during a planting season, you may get the chance to plant a tree yourself. It depends on the day: whether there are saplings on site, and whether someone from our team is free to show you how. So we can't promise it in advance.

Tick the box in the form below, and we'll tell you what is likely when we arrange your visit.

What to expect

  • A working farm, not a park. The trees grow on open heathland that slopes towards the fjord.
  • Young trees. Our first trees went into the ground in September 2026. They are small saplings and will take years to look like a forest, so a visit now shows you a woodland at its very start. Our plot log shows what we planted, where and when, and how the trees are doing.
  • Iceland's weather. It can change fast, even in summer. Bring warm, waterproof clothes and sturdy shoes.
